WalletInvestor is an investment research platform that offers 7-day, 3-month, 1-year, and 5-year price targets for more than 100,000 assets. You can get forecasts for stocks, ETFs, forex, cryptocurrencies, and commodities. WalletInvestor Pricing Options

WalletInvestor allows you to view 3-month, 1-year, and 5-year price targets for free. However, you’ll need a Premium subscription in order to see 7-day price predictions and to access WalletInvestor’s screening tools. WalletInvestor Premium also includes access to the platform’s stock and crypto portfolio.

A WalletInvestor Premium subscription costs $89.99 per year. You can try out the service for 14 days for $1.

WalletInvestor Features

Price Predictions

WalletInvestor uses a machine learning algorithm to predict the prices of more than 100,000 assets in 7 days, 3 months, 1 year, and 5 years. Covered assets include stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, forex, and commodities. The algorithm is trained on historical price data, but it doesn’t take fundamentals into account in any way.

WalletInvestor Price Predictions

For each prediction, you can see the predicted price and the percent gain or loss from the current price. You can also see how the algorithm’s predicted price and an asset’s actual price have tracked over the past 4 weeks. However, this information is only available as a static chart and there are no correlation statistics provided with it. The predicted price has confidence intervals, but these bounds are not defined. Overall, there is little information about whether the algorithm has high or low confidence in any one prediction.

Notably, WalletInvestor’s cryptocurrency forecasts include not just a Bitcoin forecast, but cover an extremely wide range of altcoins and small-cap tokens. The site’s format feels reminiscent of Coin Market Cap, the popular crypto market data site. WalletInvestor doesn’t provide any details about upcoming coin sales for tokens that haven’t yet launched on a major exchange.

Chart Pattern Recognition

WalletInvestor’s machine learning algorithm also recognizes candlestick patterns and support/resistance lines on charts.

Candlestick pattern recognition is available for 1-hour, 4-hour, and 1-day timeframes. In evaluating charts on WalletInvestor, it seemed as if the platform always identified a candlestick pattern even if one wasn’t clearly present. There’s no way to gauge the strength of the patterns that the algorithm identifies, and WalletInvestor doesn’t offer a complete charting interface with technical indicators for more analysis.

Similarly, WalletInvestor offers 3 support and 3 resistance levels for every chart. These are provided without an accompanying technical chart, so you’ll need to do your own trendline analysis in a dedicated technical analysis platform to check whether they are accurate.

Screening Tools

WalletInvestor offers basic screening parameters for crypto, stocks, and forex. You can filter by the predicted percent gain or loss over any time period. For stocks, you can also filter by industry and country, but not by market cap or recent performance.

The available filters were disappointing in that they don’t narrow down your search very much. For example, when filtering for US stocks that are predicted to gain more than 20% over the next year, the screener returned more than 1,300 results. The only additional filter available for this screen is industry.

Stock and Crypto Portfolio

Premium subscribers get access to WalletInvestor’s VIP portfolio, which includes both stock and crypto holdings. It’s not clear how the team behind WalletInvestor decides which stocks and cryptocurrencies to pick based on the algorithm’s price predictions. There is also no regular schedule for adding to the portfolio. Instead, WalletInvestor sends out an email notification anytime a holding is added to or removed from the portfolio.

WalletInvestor Portfolio

According to WalletInvestor’s website, the portfolio has returned 141% since early 2021. However, a closer look at the holdings in the portfolio reveal that the actual return is around 33%, and all of the profits are from cryptocurrency investments. The stock portion of the portfolio has yielded a return of –1.4%. For reference, Bitcoin returned –21.2% over the last year and the S&P 500 returned 14.4%.

WalletInvestor Performance

WalletInvestor Platform Differentiators

WalletInvestor’s usefulness boils down to its machine learning algorithm, which can predict the price of an asset in 7 days, 3 months, 1 year, and 5 years. These predictions are easy to interpret since they simply tell you – without much additional detail – what percentage you stand to gain or lose if you invest in an asset.

WalletInvestor is far from the first platform to use machine learning to predict asset prices, and it’s not clear based on the information available to users that it’s more accurate than any other platform. WalletInvestor does not grade the accuracy of its algorithm in any way. The only way to check the correlation between the algorithm’s technical forecasts and actual price activity for any asset is to quickly eyeball a 4-week chart.

The performance of WalletInvestor’s VIP portfolio seems to suggest that its algorithm can beat the market. However, a closer look reveals that all of the gains came from cryptocurrency, not stocks. It’s not clear how WalletInvestor chooses cryptocurrencies or stocks, and the portfolio was only launched a year ago in the midst of a historic bull market for crypto. So, it’s difficult to evaluate whether the portfolio can consistently beat the market in the future.

What Type of Trader is WalletInvestor Best For?

WalletInvestor is best suited for traders who want to use algorithmically-derived price predictions as a starting point for generating trade ideas. The platform covers stocks, ETFs, cryptocurrencies, forex, and commodities, so it can be used by traders who trade across any of these asset classes.

Importantly, traders should not use WalletInvestor’s predictions as a sole source of information for decision-making. There is not enough information about the algorithm’s performance or consistency to determine whether it is likely to be accurate for any given asset. As a minimum starting point, investors should look at Wall Street analysts’ 12-month price targets for stocks and see how they compare to WalletInvestor’s predictions.

Active investors can also benefit from WalletInvestor’s VIP portfolio. However, stock picking services like The Motley Fool’s Stock Advisor offer a much longer track record and better overall performance for a lower price.

  • 3-month, 1-year, and 5-year predictions are free
  • VIP portfolio beat the market in 2021

Cons

  • Very little information about whether the algorithm is accurate
  • Stock portion of portfolio underperformed the S&P 500

WalletInvestor FAQs

Are WalletInvestor predictions accurate?

WalletInvestor doesn’t keep track of how well its predictions have performed, so it’s difficult to say whether the platform’s predictions are generally accurate. WalletInvestor’s crypto portfolio outperformed the market in 2021, but its stock portfolio undeperformed the market.

What are alternatives to WalletInvestor?

For stocks, the best alternative to WalletInvestor is to look at Wall Street analysts’ 12-month price predictions. TipRanks organizes analyst ratings to help you find consensus picks from top-performing analysts. For cryptocurrencies, alternatives include TradingBeast and CoinPredictor. Both platforms use machine learning algorithms to make predictions, similar to WalletInvestor.

Is WalletInvestor free?

You can get free asset price predictions over 3-month, 1-year, and 5-year timescales for free with WalletInvestor. You only need to pay for 7-day price forecasts. WalletInvestor Premium costs $89.99 per year, but you can try out the service for 14 days for $1.
