Investors Observer Features

Stock Analysis & Comparison

The main feature that Investors Observer provides is a scoring system that rates each stock across seven categories:

  • Overall
  • Fundamental
  • Short-term technical
  • Long-term technical
  • Analyst ranking
  • Valuation
  • Sentiment

Together, these scores paint a clear picture of whether a stock is a reasonable target for either technical traders or value investors. Even better, you can easily compare up to four stocks at a time and see their scores in each category displayed head-to-head.

Investors Observer Stock Comparison

Investors Observer also collates information about stocks’ fundamentals and analyst price targets. You can easily see the average, high, and low price targets for any stock, plus the average buy/sell/hold recommendation from analysts. However, Investors Observer doesn’t provide information about the number of analysts covering a particular stock or the spread of recommendations.

Investors Observer Analyst Forecasts

One feature that’s very useful for new stock discovery is the Top 5 Stocks tool. With this, you can see which stocks have the highest overall Investors Observer scores, which stocks are most searched on the platform, and which stocks have the best scores after earnings. You can also dive into individual sectors to see which stocks are leading their competitors.

Stock Screener

Investors Observer offers a basic stock screener that lets you find stocks based on their scores. There aren’t many other filters, but you can limit your results by market cap, sector, price, dividend yield, and trading volume. In addition, Investors Observer has a number of pre-made, highly targeted screens like “high volume solar stocks” and “good value/ugly chart” that simplify the stock discovery process.

Portfolio Analysis

Investors Observer lets you link your brokerage accounts using Plaid so you can analyze and track the stocks in your portfolio. The integration works for most major brokers, including TD Ameritrade, Schwab, Robinhood, Interactive Brokers, Vanguard, Betterment, Fidelity, and Merrill Lynch.

Once your portfolio is linked, you can see all of your stocks scored across Investors Observer’s seven categories. You also have the ability to create an unlimited number of watchlists alongside your portfolio.

Market News

Investors Observer also serves as a hub for market news updates. You’ll find real-time headlines from MT Newswires, plus featured stories and analysis from the Investors Observer team. You can also sign up for a daily morning update that provides a rundown of the upcoming market day and an update on your portfolio.

Options Trading

While our review has largely focused on Investors Observer’s stock offerings, the platform also offers a guided options trading service and options screener. Investors Observer’s available strategies include covered calls, short puts, diagonal spreads, and vertical spreads.

The platform issues new options trades every day that include everything you need to know about when to open the trade, when to close it, and how to manage risk. You can also screen options ideas by stock, strategy, or criteria like Investors Observer scores.

Investors Observer Customization and Layout

Investors Observer is easy to navigate and offers a dashboard where you can quickly see top stocks, monitor your portfolio and watchlists, and catch up on market headlines. Paid subscribers also get access to the Investors Observer mobile app for iOS (not available for Android).

Investors Observer Platform Differentiators

Investors Observer has a lot of similarity to other stock ranking services, most notably Zacks Premium. That said, whereas Zacks relies largely on in-house research, Investors Observer uses automated algorithms and analyst recommendations to score stocks. Notably, this allows Investors Observer to charge about half as much as Zacks for their comparable plans.

Another thing that sets Investors Observer apart is the ability to import your portfolios. If you have multiple brokers and a large number of holdings, this can be a big advantage. You can easily see scores for all of your stocks and compare them against competitors in their industries.

What Type of Trader is Investors Observer Best For?

Investors Observer is best suited for stock traders and long-term investors who want to generate new ideas. The stock screener and Top 5 Stocks tool make it easy to discover new stocks that rank highly in Investors Observer’s scoring system. Since the scores look at both technical and fundamental attributes, the platform can be used for both short-term and long-term investing.

Investors Observer is also a good choice for investors who want to jump into options trading, but want a service that can guide them through trades. Investors Observer does offer screeners to help traders find their own options trades, but we think there are more comprehensive options scanning tools available elsewhere.

  1. I am a Premium membership member of IO. So far everyone of their highly rated VERY BULLISH stocks found on the Bullish – Strong Buy – Short Term screener that I have bought have not come close to their projected target price. Also they do NOT post any reviews that are less than four stars. Twice I posted a 3 star review to no avail. They were never posted on their website.

I will not be renewing my membership and would not feel comfortable recommending this service to anyone

  2. I have been an Elite Options subscriber for a few years. They auto renewed my subscription on March 15, 2024. On June 17, 2024, the company said they “sunsetted”. Now it says they have “discontinued” and direct customers to get a discount from Benziga. Bottom line, I paid for another year and they bailed after 3 months. I have messaged and emailed with no response.
