Epic Bundle - Pricing

What’s Included in The Motley Fool Epic Bundle

The Motley Fool Epic Bundle includes access to four of the platform’s most popular newsletters: Stock Advisor, Rule Breakers, Everlasting Stocks, and Real Estate Winners.

Stock Advisor

Stock Advisor is The Motley Fool’s flagship stock picking newsletter. It offers two new stock picks each month from Tom and David Gardner, the co-founders of The Motley Fool.

The service focuses on explosive growth stocks with a time horizon of at least five years. Several early picks – including Amazon, Netflix, and Tesla – have been in the Stock Advisor portfolio for more than a decade. Since Stock Advisor launched in 2002, it’s returned 354% compared to 112% for the S&P 500.

What’s included

  • Two new stock picks each month
  • Foundational stocks list
  • Monthly timely stocks list

Rule Breakers

Rule Breakers is a newsletter similar in style to Stock Advisor, but managed entirely by David Gardner and his team of analysts. It focuses more explicitly on tech stocks, but there is often an overlap with picks in the Stock Advisor newsletter. Since launching in 2004, Rule Breakers has returned 198% compared to 96% for the S&P 500.

What’s included

  • Two new stock picks each month
  • Monthly timely stocks list

Everlasting Stocks

Everlasting Stocks is a monthly stock picking newsletter managed entirely by Tom Gardner and his team of analysts. It has a slightly broader view than Stock Advisor or Rule Breakers, offering some international stocks and mid-cap stocks in addition to tech-centric growth stocks. Everlasting Stocks launched in 2018 and has reportedly outpaced the S&P 500 by a factor of three, although The Motley Fool doesn’t provide performance data.

What’s included

  • Two new stock picks each month
  • Monthly timely stocks list

Real Estate Winners

Real Estate Winners is a newsletter aimed at helping investors get exposure to the real estate market through stocks. It includes one stock pick each month, usually an REIT. The newsletter launched in 2021 and The Motley Fool doesn’t provide performance data.

What’s included

  • One new stock pick each month
  • Monthly timely stocks list

Motley Fool Epic Bundle Investing Style

Most of the Motley Fool’s stock picking newsletters are focused on explosive growth stocks that the analysts behind this service believe are undervalued. The Motley Fool isn’t a trading service, but rather focused on long-term stock picks. The time horizon for most newsletter picks is at least five years, and some stocks still in the Motley Fool’s Stock Advisor portfolio date back to its launch in 2002.

The Motley Fool generally recommends that investors have at least 25 stocks in their portfolio, and the platform’s analysts don’t hesitate to double down on stocks that they’ve already recommended. In fact, during market downturns, it’s not uncommon to see the Stock Advisor, Rule Breakers, and Everlasting Stocks newsletters re-recommend stocks in back-to-back months.

Epic Bundle - Recommendations

Each of the newsletters in the Motley Fool Epic Bundle are designed to stand on their own and provide investors with enough picks to build a complete portfolio. There can be overlap between stocks recommended by Stock Advisor, Rule Breakers, and Everlasting Stocks, although usually not in the same month. Many of the growth stocks recommended by these newsletters are tech stocks.

In that sense, there isn’t necessarily a need for investors to have all three of these services. However, investors who are getting a new portfolio off the ground or who want to pick and choose from the available recommendations may appreciate having more picks.

The Real Estate Winners service is distinct from the other newsletters in that it focuses on stocks in the real estate sector, including REITs. This means both that the picks are distinct from the tech-heavy recommendations in the other newsletters and that they tend to be dividend-paying stocks, which can generate cash flow within your portfolio.

Epic Bundle Stock Picks & Portfolio Resources

Each of the newsletters included in the Motley Fool Epic Bundle include new stock picks on a monthly basis. Stock Advisor, Rule Breakers, and Everlasting Stocks each offer two new recommendations per month, while Real Estate Winners offers one.

In addition to new recommendations, each of these services includes a selection of evergreen stocks and updates that you can use to build your portfolio. For example, Stock Advisor has a monthly list of best stocks to buy that includes 10 timely stocks and 10 “foundational” stocks that every growth investor should own. Similarly, Rule Breakers offers five timely stocks each month from the existing portfolio and Real Estate Winners offers 10 timely stocks each quarter.

Epic Bundle - Timely Stocks

Motley Fool Epic Bundle Performance

Perhaps the most attractive thing about The Motley Fool’s Epic Bundle is the performance of the constituent newsletters. Stock Advisor has returned 354% since it launched in 2002 (compared to 112% for the S&P 500) and Rule Breakers has returned 198% since it launched in 2004 (compared to 96% for the S&P 500).

The Motley Fool doesn’t offer performance data for the Everlasting Stocks or Real Estate Winners newsletters since these are relatively new.

What Type of Investor is the Motley Fool Epic Bundle Best For?

The Motley Fool’s Epic Bundle is best for investors who want to build a portfolio from scratch or get help modifying an existing portfolio. The bundle delivers at least six new stock picks each month plus several lists of timely stocks, so there are a lot of ideas for how to invest.

On the other hand, all of those picks can be a lot for investors to analyze and allocate within their portfolios, especially if you don’t have much spare cash to invest right now. In that case, you may find that a single newsletter, like Stock Advisor, offers all the recommendations you need.

Alternatives to The Motley Fool Epic Bundle

The Motley Fool’s Epic Bundle offers ready-to-invest stock picks for long-term investors. It doesn’t include in-depth research, so self-driven investors who want to do their own analysis may be better suited with a stock research platform like Zacks Investment Advisor ($249 per year) or Morningstar Premium ($249 per year). Investors who want to take a more active role in the market through swing trading may want to consider a service like Investor’s Business Daily Marketsmith ($1,499 per year).

Is the Epic Bundle Worth It?

The Motley Fool Epic bundle costs the same amount as buying subscriptions to the Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers newsletters, and it also comes with access to the Everlasting Stocks and Real Estate Winners newsletters. In that sense, it’s a great deal. The Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers newsletters both have excellent track records.

While there can be a degree of overlap between Stock Advisor and Rule Breakers, having both services offers investors more stock recommendations to choose from each month. The best buys lists included in these newsletters are especially useful for investors who are actively building up their portfolios and looking to move money into the market. Meanwhile, Real Estate Winners offers diversification away from high-growth tech stocks and gives investors a way to generate income from their portfolios.

If you already have a diversified portfolio and just want to add a few growth stock picks, then you might find that a subscription to Stock Advisor ($199 per year) is enough on its own.

Another thing to consider when deciding whether the Epic Bundle is right for you is how much you have to invest. If you have a $10,000 portfolio, you’d have to make an additional 5% return each year to have the service pay for itself. That’s feasible given The Motley Fool’s track record, but investors with less than $10,000 to invest might find that the Epic Bundle is simply too expensive.

  1. Perfect. I have had SA & RB both in the past and had forgotten about the frustrating overlap along with the overwhelming amount of stock recommendation. Thank you, Liam
