Hammerstone Markets Features

MarketTalk Feed

The MarketTalk feed is at the heart of Hammerstone Markets service. This highly customizable market news feed lets you create an unlimited number of filtered sub-feeds so you can track specific stocks, keywords, events, or market sectors.

Hammerstone Markets Custom Feed

When creating a new feed, the main option you have is to choose what keywords or stock tickers to include. You can also create feeds that exclude specific tickers or keywords. Helpfully, you can opt to have keywords automatically highlighted in your feed, and you can choose the highlighting color.

This simple design means that it’s easy to have multiple feeds up on your screen at once, each focused on a different market sector or set of stocks. Hammerstone Markets also has its own team of analysts, who issue market-wide news updates and headlines throughout the day in a dedicated feed that you can keep open alongside your custom feeds.

In addition, the MarketTalk feed offers several types of notifications that you can toggle on and off. You can have new headlines sent to your inbox or receive a desktop notification. On mobile devices, the feed can also issue push notifications.

The MarketTalk feed also includes an audio squawk function so you can hear headlines when you’re not actively monitoring your feeds. You can easily toggle the squawk on and off for any individual feeds.

Real-Time Messaging

Subscribers to the Pro Traders plan have access to a real-time messaging system that enables you to chat with Hammerstone Markets analysts as well as other traders on the platform. There are no premade chat groups to join, so this feature is most useful if you already know other traders who are using Hammerstone Markets. However, it can also be helpful if you want clarification on a specific headline, since you can direct message the Hammerstone analyst who issued the update.

Reports

Hammerstone Markets offers two different sets of reports: Hammerstone Reports and Energy Reports.

Hammerstone Reports are issued by email four times per day, including before the market, in mid-morning, in mid-afternoon, and after market close. The reports give a broad rundown of the market, including a summary of price action and major headlines. They also cover earnings reports and major stock moves across the major market sectors.

Energy Reports come out once per day prior to market open. They’re similar to the Hammerstone Reports, but focus specifically on the energy sector and offer more in-depth research from Hammerstone Markets analysts.

Customization and Layout

The Hammerstone Markets app is available as a browser-based app, as a desktop app for Windows and Mac computers, and as a mobile app for iOS and Android devices.

Feeds automatically open in new windows when using the desktop platforms, so you can easily choose how you want to lay out your feeds in relation to your trading platform. The downside to this approach, though, is that you can’t automatically return to the same layout every time you open Hammerstone Markets. The platform also doesn’t integrate with any trading platforms or brokerage services – it’s designed to be fully standalone.

Hammerstone Markets Platform Differentiators

Hammerstone Markets is an inexpensive market news feed that’s very easy to use. It doesn’t offer as many customization options, filters, or tools as competing platforms like Benzinga Pro. However, Hammerstone Markets is much less expensive, especially if you want audio squawk functionality for your news feed (plans including audio squawk start at $177 per month at Benzinga Pro). Despite costing a fraction as much, we found that Hammerstone is comparably fast to Benzinga Pro at delivering headlines.

Hammerstone Markets has a few other touches that help this platform stand out. For instance, the fact that you can get in touch with analysts means that it’s easy to find out more about the headlines in your feed when you have questions. We also liked that you can pair the news feed service with market reports, which provide a more holistic view of everything that’s happening in the market.

What Type of Trader is Hammerstone Markets Best For?

Hammerstone Markets is best for day traders who want to use a real-time news feed to find trading opportunities. The news feed filters are somewhat simplistic, but that can be a good thing for traders who are more interested in following specific tickers than tracking a more general market trend. Hammerstone Markets’ low cost is also very appealing, especially for traders who don’t want to spend a fortune to get audio squawk functionality.
