Game of Trades Features

Game of Trades offers a series of in-depth articles and videos to help traders find swing trades and evaluate the medium to long-term trajectory of the stock, crypto, treasuries, and commodities markets. The platform doesn’t provide details about who the professional analysts behind this service are.

Trading Watchlist

Game of Trades’ trading watchlist offers a selection of swing trade ideas that the analysts behind this platform think offer a favorable risk-to-reward ratio. Trade ideas don’t drill down to the level of individual stocks. Instead, they take a broad view by focusing on the S&P 500 as a whole, the technology sector (via the XLK ETF), the transportation sector (via the IYT ETF), and the consumer discretionary sector (via the XLY ETF). Trade ideas are also available for Bitcoin and crude oil.

Game of Trades - Trade Ideas

Each trade idea is an analysis article that looks into short and medium-term catalysts around the market in question. For example, a recent update on the S&P 500 took an in-depth look at a negative earnings report from FedEx, which set off selling activity across the market. Much of the update was about the market conditions surrounding FedEx’s earnings, but it also included technical analysis of the S&P 500 price chart.

These trade ideas are not always actionable. In fact, trade ideas on Game of Trades never include entry prices or profit targets. They do, in some cases, come with buy/sell/hold recommendations.

Investing Strategies

Game of Trades offers similar analysis, but with a longer-term view, through a series of articles it calls investing strategies. These cover long-term macroeconomic conditions and conditions in the stock, commodity, and cryptocurrency markets.

Investing strategies are often long and involve drawing on historical patterns to project where the price of an asset class will be in the next two to five years. Strategies are presented as investment theses, so investors will want to approach these articles with caution and a bit of skepticism about what data isn’t being presented as part of the argument.

Ratings Dashboard

One of the most actionable features of Game of Trades is its ratings dashboard. This provides a summary of the platform’s take on whether specific asset classes are bullish or bearish over medium-term (6-12 months) and long-term (1-5 years) timeframes.

The ratings dashboard provides ratings for the S&P 500, technology (XLK), transportation (IYT), consumer discretionaries (XLY), treasury bonds (via the TLT ETF), the US dollar, oil, gold, and industrial metals (via the DBB ETF). It also covers Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Game of Trades - Ratings Dashboard

Along with buy/sell/hold ratings for each asset over medium and long-term timeframes, Game of Trades provides a bulleted summary of the rationale behind the ratings. These points are taken directly from the trading watchlist and investment strategy articles.

Customer Experience

The layout of Game of Trades is somewhat confusing. It takes several clicks to get from the platform’s dashboard to the most recent analysis articles. There’s no way to know how the platform’s rating of a particular asset has changed without also reading past articles – the ratings dashboard does not track rating changes over time. In addition, crypto market analysis is kept separate from stock and commodity market analysis, even though these markets are somewhat correlated and respond to similar catalysts.

One helpful feature is that Game of Trades provides email alerts when new articles are issued. This makes it a little easier to keep track of the latest analysis updates.

Game of Trades Service Differentiators

Game of Trades provides in-depth market analysis and technical analysis for several major markets over medium and long-term timeframes. This is not that unique, as virtually every professional investor has a thesis about which way the S&P 500 is headed. Given the format of Game of Trades’ analyses and the fact that the service doesn’t offer entry prices for trade recommendations, it’s not possible to determine whether the service’s predictions have historically been accurate.

The analysis that Game of Trades provides is relatively similar to the fundamental and technical analysis available on Seeking Alpha or through the community forums on TradingView. Seeking Alpha is significantly cheaper ($239 per year) and offers a wider range of viewpoints since it includes analysis articles from dozens of analysts.

What Type of Trader is Game of Trades Best For?

Game of Trades is best for swing traders and investors who want to be active in multiple markets, including the stock, commodity, cryptocurrency, and treasury markets. The combination of fundamental and technical analysis that Game of Trades provides can be used to form trade ideas, although it’s unlikely to be enough on its own to select trades.

Game of Trades is more expensive than similar analysis services that provide a wider range of viewpoints, such as Seeking Alpha. It’s also more expensive than stock-picking services like The Motley Fool’s Stock Advisor. Cost-conscious stock Investors, in particular, may be better suited to one of these alternatives. That said, Game of Trades offers a free trial so it’s worth testing out the service to see if it is a good fit for you.

1 thought on “Game of Trades Review – What Does This Market Analysis Service Offer?”

  1. I recommend anyone who is considering taking out a subscription with Game of Trage not to do so. I have been a member of GoT for over a year now and it is the worst experience I have ever had in trading and especially investing. In my opinion non-transparent and inconsistent. The concept has certainly been changed 4 times in the last 12 months. New “formats” (presentation of the articles) were introduced and just as quickly as they came they were discontinued because they didn’t work.

Recently the model portfolio was simply discontinued with all active trades and investment decision on the grounds that there are not enough resources to maintain it. Unfortunately, the portfolio is performing extremely negatively and almost all investment decisions are heavily in the red. This means that all members are left alone with their trades. Where, please, is the added value in a €660 newsletter that distributes universal stock market news? You can get the same from any normal YouTube channel about the stock market and it’s free.

What is now left of the Game of Trade service is a non-trackable “newsletter format”, which is roughly intended as a decision-making aid. Sectors rated with numbers from 1-10. Nobody really knows what a rating of 5 China shares is supposed to mean. Everything serves to dilute so that you can’t be pinned down to a trading decision. An example trade: XLK short since 140 dollars. No stoplosses, just a message every week that you should continue to hold. However, XLK is currently making new highs.

A note on the internal community on the gameoftrades.net platform: There are only a few comments and active users on the articles here. I would say at least half of them write critical comments on the decisions of the trades or the assessments of the GoT market. If comments are unpleasant for GoT’s business model, they are simply deleted.

If you need more information about the Game of Trade membership, please get in touch. But I can only repeat my opinion: DO NOT PAY FOR GAME OF TRADES MEMBERSHIP!
